When to Plant:
Plant Ipheion bulbs in autumn, typically from September to November, before the ground becomes too hard or cold.
Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny or lightly shaded spot with well-drained soil. Ipheion thrives in sheltered borders, rock gardens, or pots, and will naturalise well under deciduous shrubs or lawns where they remain undisturbed.
How to Plant:
Aftercare:
Water in well after planting. Ipheion is low maintenance—once established, it requires little attention. Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering in spring to feed the bulb for the following year. Bulbs can be left in place to multiply and flower again in future seasons.
Top Tip:
Ideal for naturalising – Ipheion will gradually form carpets of delicate starry blooms, providing valuable early nectar for pollinators.
