A spectacular Dutch Iris with one of the most dramatic colour combinations available, Iris hollandica 'Eye of the Tiger' (also sold as 'Tigereye') produces elegant flowers of rich violet-purple beautifully contrasted by velvety mahogany-bronze falls and a brilliant golden-yellow eye.
The striking blooms combine vivid royal purple upper petals with richly coloured lower petals in shades of bronze, burgundy and smoky mauve-grey. At the centre of each flower, a glowing golden-yellow blotch provides a dazzling focal point, giving rise to the variety's evocative name. The result is a flower of remarkable depth and sophistication that draws the eye from across the garden.
Held on tall, slender stems above graceful sword-like foliage, the flowers appear in late spring and early summer, adding both height and architectural elegance to sunny borders. Dutch Irises have been treasured for over a century as some of the finest cut flowers available, and 'Eye of the Tiger' is no exception. The long-lasting blooms are superb for floral arrangements and pair beautifully with alliums, peonies, geums and ornamental grasses.
Easy to grow, reliable and exceptionally floriferous, Iris hollandica 'Eye of the Tiger' is a superb choice for borders, cutting gardens and patio displays where its extraordinary colouring can be fully appreciated.
A truly unforgettable Dutch Iris that combines elegance with dramatic beauty.
