Bring the tranquillity of a woodland glade to your patio or garden with our Woodland Whites & Blues Bulb Lasagne Collection. Carefully designed using five complementary spring-flowering bulbs, this layered planting creates weeks of elegant colour, beginning with pristine white crocuses and finishing with graceful Camassias.

The display begins in late winter as the pure white flowers of Crocus 'Ard Schenk' emerge alongside the delicate star-shaped blooms of Chionodoxa 'Alba', providing an early source of nectar for bees and other pollinating insects. As spring progresses, vibrant Anemone blanda Blue carpets the pot with cheerful daisy-like flowers, beautifully complemented by the elegant, fragrant white blooms of Narcissus 'Thalia'.

The finale belongs to the magnificent Camassia caerulea, whose tall spires of soft lavender-blue star-shaped flowers rise above the earlier blooms, adding height, movement and architectural beauty to the display.

Planted using the traditional bulb lasagne technique, each variety is positioned at a different depth so they flower in succession rather than all at once, creating an ever-changing display that lasts for several months from late winter into late spring.

Ideal for patio pots, containers, balconies and entrances, this elegant collection also makes a thoughtful gift and can be enjoyed year after year.

Collection Includes:

  • 10 × Chionodoxa forbesii 'Alba'
  • 10 × Crocus 'Ard Schenk'
  • 15 × Anemone blanda Blue
  • 5 × Narcissus 'Thalia'
  • 3 × Camassia caerulea

(Suggested planting in a 35–40cm diameter container.)

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant your Woodland Whites & Blues Bulb Lasagne Collection during autumn (September–November), before the ground freezes. Autumn planting allows the bulbs to establish roots before flowering in spring.

Where to Plant:
Choose a container at least 35–40cm wide and deep with drainage holes. Position in full sun or partial shade using a good-quality, free-draining compost.

How to Plant:

  • Bottom Layer: Plant the Camassia approximately 15cm deep.
  • Second Layer: Add the Narcissus 'Thalia' around 12cm deep.
  • Third Layer: Plant the Anemone blanda approximately 8cm deep (soak tubers for 3–4 hours before planting if possible).
  • Top Layer: Plant the Chionodoxa 'Alba' and Crocus 'Ard Schenk' approximately 5–8cm deep.
  • Cover with compost, water thoroughly and place the container outdoors.

Watering:
Water well after planting. During winter, rainfall is usually sufficient. In spring, keep the compost lightly moist but never waterlogged.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Feed every two weeks with a high-potash fertiliser once shoots appear.
  • Remove faded flowers but leave all foliage until it has naturally yellowed.
  • The bulbs can remain in the container for future years or be planted into the garden after flowering.

Top Tip:
Add a layer of moss, bark or decorative gravel to finish the pot. Position near a doorway or seating area where you can enjoy the changing display as each layer flowers in succession throughout spring.
