Narcissus obvallaris

A true British treasure, Narcissus obvallaris, commonly known as the Tenby Daffodil, is one of the finest and most historically significant botanical daffodils. Native to western Britain and classified as a Species Narcissus (RHS Division 13), it has long been admired for its graceful beauty and vibrant golden flowers.

Each elegant bloom is a perfect study in simplicity, with bright golden-yellow petals surrounding a broad, flared trumpet of exactly the same rich golden hue. Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Narcissus obvallaris bulbs in autumn, ideally between September and November, before the ground freezes and while the soil remains workable.

Where to Plant:
Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil. Ideal for woodland gardens, rockeries, meadows, borders and naturalising beneath deciduous trees.

How to Plant:

• Depth: Plant bulbs approximately 10 cm (4 inches) deep.
• Spacing: Space bulbs about 10 cm (4 inches) apart.
• Soil Prep: Improve poor soils with compost or well-rotted organic matter. In heavy clay soils, incorporate grit to improve drainage.

Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil. Once established, additional watering is rarely needed except during prolonged dry spells in spring.

Aftercare Tips:

• Allow the foliage to die back naturally for at least six weeks after flowering.
• Remove spent flower heads if seed is not required.
• Leave bulbs undisturbed to naturalise and gradually form larger clumps.
