A delightful and unusual form of the much-loved Glory-of-the-Snow, Chionodoxa forbesii 'Pink Giant' produces beautiful soft rosy-pink flowers, each delicately highlighted with a pale centre.

Flowering in the earliest weeks of spring, often while winter is still lingering, 'Pink Giant' brings welcome colour to the garden when little else is in bloom. The elegant star-shaped flowers are carried in loose clusters above neat tufts of narrow green foliage, creating a charming and natural appearance.

Unlike the more familiar blue forms, 'Pink Giant' offers a softer palette that blends beautifully with snowdrops, crocuses, early narcissus and other spring-flowering bulbs. Over time, the bulbs naturalise readily, forming increasingly impressive drifts beneath deciduous trees, through lawns, along pathways or at the front of borders.

The flowers provide an important early source of nectar and pollen for bees and other pollinating insects emerging after winter. Easy to grow, reliable and wonderfully rewarding, 'Pink Giant' is an excellent choice for woodland gardens, rockeries and naturalistic planting schemes.

A charming spring bulb that adds subtle beauty and elegance to the awakening garden.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Chionodoxa bulbs in autumn, ideally between September and November, before the ground becomes frozen.

Where to Plant:
Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with well-drained soil. Ideal for woodland edges, borders, rockeries, lawns and naturalising beneath deciduous trees.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant bulbs approximately 5–8 cm (2–3 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space bulbs about 5–8 cm (2–3 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Improve poor soils with compost or organic matter before planting.

Watering:
Water after planting to settle the soil. Once established, bulbs generally require little additional watering.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering.
  • If planted in grass, delay mowing until the leaves have yellowed.
  • Leave bulbs undisturbed to naturalise and spread over time.

Top Tip:
Plant alongside blue Chionodoxa and white snowdrops for a beautiful pastel tapestry of colour in early spring.
