Graceful, elegant and full of summer charm, Triteleia laxa 'Corrina' produces large clusters of star-shaped flowers in beautiful lavender-blue with a subtle silvery sheen, bringing vibrant colour to the garden just as the spring bulbs begin to fade.

A selected form of the Californian Triplet Lily, 'Corrina' is prized for its larger flowers, strong stems and exceptional garden performance. Each upright stem carries a generous umbel of blooms that open in succession, extending the flowering season and creating an airy display that dances gently in the breeze.

Native to the sunny meadows and open woodlands of California, Triteleia laxa thrives in warm, free-draining soils and is remarkably drought tolerant once established. Its nectar-rich flowers are highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects, making it an excellent choice for wildlife-friendly gardens.

Perfect for sunny borders, gravel gardens, prairie-style planting and containers, 'Corrina' also makes an excellent cut flower, with blooms that last well in the vase. Left undisturbed, the bulbs gradually multiply to form increasingly impressive clumps, returning year after year with minimal care.

A beautiful and reliable summer-flowering bulb that provides elegant colour between the spring and summer seasons.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Triteleia bulbs in autumn or spring. Autumn planting generally produces the strongest flowering, although spring planting will also provide excellent summer blooms.

Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny, sheltered position with well-drained soil. Triteleia thrives in borders, gravel gardens, raised beds and containers where excess winter moisture can drain away freely.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant bulbs approximately 8–10 cm (3–4 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space bulbs about 8–10 cm (3–4 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Improve heavy soils with grit or sharp sand and incorporate compost to improve fertility while maintaining excellent drainage.

Watering:
Water well after planting to settle the soil. Keep the soil lightly moist during active growth but never waterlogged. Once established, Triteleia is very tolerant of dry summer conditions.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering.
  • Reduce watering once the foliage begins to yellow.
  • In colder or wetter parts of the UK, protect bulbs with a winter mulch or grow in containers that can be moved to a sheltered position.

Top Tip:
Plant in groups with Alliums, Salvia and ornamental grasses for a beautiful naturalistic planting that flowers from late spring into summer.
