Elegant, striking and effortlessly sophisticated, Tulipa 'Flaming Purissima' is a spectacular Fosteriana Tulip that produces enormous ivory-white blooms beautifully feathered and flamed with soft raspberry-pink. Each flower is uniquely marked, ensuring no two blooms are ever exactly alike.
A stunning sport of the much-loved 'Purissima' (White Emperor), this exceptional variety combines the outstanding vigour and reliability of the Fosteriana group with exquisite bi-coloured flowers. The large goblet-shaped blooms emerge creamy white before gradually revealing increasingly vivid rose-pink flames along the outer petals as they mature, creating an ever-changing display throughout the flowering season.
Flowering in early to mid-spring, the impressive blooms are carried on strong, weather-resistant stems above broad grey-green foliage. Their elegant colouring makes them a wonderful choice for borders, large containers and cutting gardens, where they provide long-lasting flowers both outdoors and in the vase.
Like other Fosteriana tulips, 'Flaming Purissima' is renowned for its excellent perennial qualities and is more likely than many modern tulips to return year after year when grown in well-drained soil. The soft ivory and raspberry tones blend beautifully with blue Muscari, white Narcissi, pink Hyacinths and deep burgundy tulips, creating elegant and timeless spring combinations.
A truly refined tulip that brings beauty, strength and individuality to the spring garden.
