Elegant, romantic and truly unforgettable, Tulipa 'Finola' is one of the most exquisite Double Late Tulips, producing sumptuous, peony-like blooms in a breathtaking blend of creamy white, blush pink and rich raspberry rose. As each flower matures, the colours deepen and intensify, ensuring every bloom is beautifully unique.

The enormous, fully double flowers resemble luxurious garden peonies, with layer upon layer of silky petals creating a lavish display that lasts for weeks in late spring. Opening from softly coloured buds, the blooms gradually reveal deeper pink highlights and subtle green accents on the outer petals, adding depth and character throughout the flowering period.

Flowering during May, 'Finola' reaches 40–50cm in height and is carried on sturdy stems that support its large blooms remarkably well. It is a spectacular choice for borders, patio containers and cutting gardens, where its romantic colouring pairs beautifully with deep purple tulips such as 'Queen of Night', elegant white varieties or ornamental Alliums.

One of the finest tulips for floral arrangements, Tulipa 'Finola' produces exceptionally long-lasting cut flowers, with blooms that continue to develop and become even more beautiful indoors.

Perfect for cottage gardens, romantic planting schemes and luxurious spring displays, 'Finola' is a tulip that never fails to impress.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Tulip bulbs in autumn, ideally from October to December, once the soil has cooled. Planting later in autumn helps reduce the risk of tulip diseases and encourages healthy spring flowering.

Where to Plant:
Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil. 'Finola' is perfect for borders, patio containers, cutting gardens and cottage-style planting schemes. A sheltered position is beneficial, as the large double blooms can become heavy after rain.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant bulbs approximately 15 cm (6 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space bulbs 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Improve heavy soils with compost and, if necessary, add horticultural grit to improve drainage.

Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil. Once established, tulips generally only require watering during prolonged dry spells in spring.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Remove faded flowers once blooming has finished.
  • Allow the foliage to die back naturally for at least six weeks after flowering so the bulbs can replenish their energy for the following year.
  • Feed with a balanced fertiliser in early spring to encourage strong stems and abundant blooms.

Top Tip:
Plant 'Finola' where its magnificent peony-like flowers can be admired up close. Pair with dark tulips such as 'Queen of Night' or soft white tulips for a luxurious late spring display. Its spectacular blooms are also exceptional for wedding bouquets and floral arrangements.
