Elegant, luminous and wonderfully sophisticated, Tulipa 'Silver Cloud' is a beautiful Triumph Tulip producing perfectly formed, goblet-shaped blooms in soft silvery lilac with delicate lavender-pink tones that subtly shimmer in the spring sunshine. Its refined colouring gives the flowers an almost pearlescent appearance, making it one of the most elegant pastel tulips for the garden.

The silky petals gently deepen in colour as the flowers mature, creating a graceful display that evolves throughout the flowering period. Strong, weather-resistant stems ensure the blooms remain upright even during unsettled spring weather, making 'Silver Cloud' an exceptionally reliable performer.

Flowering in mid-spring, 'Silver Cloud' reaches 45–50cm in height, making it ideal for borders, patio containers and cutting gardens. Its soft colouring combines beautifully with white tulips, rich purples such as 'Negrita', blush pink varieties and ornamental Alliums, creating sophisticated planting combinations full of harmony and contrast.

The long-lasting flowers are equally impressive indoors, where their elegant pastel shades make outstanding cut flower arrangements.

Graceful, dependable and timelessly beautiful, Tulipa 'Silver Cloud' is perfect for gardeners looking to create a refined spring display.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Tulip bulbs in autumn, ideally from October to December, once the soil has cooled. Planting later in autumn helps reduce the risk of tulip diseases and encourages healthy spring flowering.

Where to Plant:
Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil. 'Silver Cloud' is ideal for borders, patio containers, cutting gardens and formal bedding displays.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant bulbs approximately 15 cm (6 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space bulbs 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Improve heavy soils with compost and, if necessary, add horticultural grit to improve drainage.

Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil. Once established, tulips generally only require watering during prolonged dry spells in spring.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Remove faded flowers once blooming has finished.
  • Allow the foliage to die back naturally for at least six weeks after flowering so the bulbs can store energy for the following year.
  • Feed with a balanced fertiliser in early spring to encourage healthy growth and abundant blooms.

Top Tip:
Plant 'Silver Cloud' with white tulips, deep purple varieties or soft pink spring bulbs to create a refined pastel display. Its elegant blooms also make exceptional long-lasting cut flowers.
