A true showstopper in the spring garden – flamboyant, bold, and utterly captivating. With its dramatically ruffled petals in shades of apricot, coral, rose-pink and soft green, this exotic beauty brings a painterly flourish to borders, containers, and floral arrangements. As the blooms mature, their colours intensify and shift, creating an ever-changing display that’s both theatrical and elegant.

A tall and stately tulip, ‘Amazing Parrot’ stands proudly on strong stems, making it ideal for cutting – a single stem in a vase is enough to steal the spotlight. Like all parrot tulips, it thrives best in a sunny, sheltered spot where its sumptuous blooms can fully unfurl and shine. Plant in generous groups for a dazzling effect or mix with soft pastels for a touch of spring drama.

Exuberant, artistic, and utterly unforgettable – Tulipa ‘Amazing Parrot’ is an essential addition for those who want their spring garden to burst with personality and charm.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:
Plant in autumn, from September to November, before the first frost.

Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny and sheltered spot with well-drained soil. This variety thrives in garden beds or large containers where its unique blooms can truly shine.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant bulbs 15 cm (6 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space bulbs 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) apart to allow room for their large flowers.
  • Position: Plant with the pointy end facing upwards.

Watering:
Water after planting to help settle the soil. In winter, natural rainfall usually suffices. Avoid letting bulbs sit in soggy soil.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Remove faded flowers to divert energy back to the bulb.
  • Let foliage die back naturally to support next year’s growth.
  • If grown in pots, feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser as leaves emerge.

Top Tip:
Parrot tulips make spectacular cut flowers—harvest when the buds just begin to open for the longest vase life. For maximum drama, plant in groups or clusters to create an unforgettable late-spring display.
