Fresh, elegant and wonderfully distinctive, Tulipa 'Sorbet' is a striking Single Late Tulip that produces large ivory-white blooms, each beautifully edged and delicately feathered with vibrant raspberry-pink to deep cerise. As the flowers mature, the pink margins intensify, making every bloom unique and creating an eye-catching display that evolves throughout the flowering season.

With its classic goblet-shaped flowers and tall, sturdy stems, 'Sorbet' brings sophistication and colour to the late spring garden. The crisp white petals provide the perfect canvas for the vivid pink edging, making this variety equally at home in contemporary planting schemes or traditional cottage gardens.

Flowering throughout May, Tulipa 'Sorbet' is ideal for borders, patio containers and cutting gardens. Its elegant bicolour blooms combine beautifully with deep purple tulips such as 'Queen of Night', soft apricots like 'Menton', or pure white varieties for a refined late spring display.

The long, strong stems also make 'Sorbet' an outstanding cut flower, lasting beautifully in the vase and bringing fresh spring colour indoors.

A beautiful and reliable tulip that offers elegance with a modern twist.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Tulip bulbs in autumn, ideally from October to December, once the soil has cooled. Planting later in autumn helps reduce the risk of tulip diseases and encourages healthy spring flowering.

Where to Plant:
Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil. 'Sorbet' is ideal for borders, patio containers, cutting gardens and formal planting schemes.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant bulbs approximately 15 cm (6 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space bulbs 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Improve heavy soils with compost and, if necessary, add horticultural grit to improve drainage.

Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil. Once established, tulips generally only require watering during prolonged dry spells in spring.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Remove faded flowers once blooming has finished.
  • Allow the foliage to die back naturally for at least six weeks after flowering so the bulbs can store energy for the following year.
  • Feed with a balanced fertiliser in early spring for healthy growth and abundant blooms.

Top Tip:
Plant 'Sorbet' alongside deep purple tulips such as 'Queen of Night' or soft pink varieties for a beautifully balanced late spring display. Its striking bicolour blooms are also exceptional for cutting.
