Graceful, elegant and instantly recognisable, Galanthus 'Magnet' is one of the most admired snowdrops, celebrated for its unusually long, slender flower stalks that allow each bloom to sway gently in the slightest breeze. This delicate movement gives the flowers the appearance of floating beneath the foliage, creating a wonderfully graceful display in the late winter garden.
Raised by the renowned British plantsman James Allen and introduced in the early 20th century, 'Magnet' has stood the test of time and remains one of the finest garden snowdrops. Its pure white outer petals surround neatly marked inner petals featuring a distinctive green inverted V-shaped mark, while the elegant, pendulous flowers are held clear of the foliage on elongated pedicels — a characteristic that inspired its memorable name.
Flowering from late winter into early spring, 'Magnet' provides valuable early nectar for bees and other pollinating insects when little else is in bloom. It naturalises readily, forming attractive clumps beneath deciduous trees, in woodland gardens and along shaded pathways where its gently nodding flowers can be appreciated up close.
A classic snowdrop that combines beauty, movement and exceptional garden performance, Galanthus 'Magnet' is an essential addition to any collection.
