Iris unguicularis, is the species plant and has pale mauve flowers, the standards slightly paler and more silvery. It is the easiest and most recognizable form. Ingestion may cause severe discomfort.
Iris unguicularis should be planted in a very sheltered, sunny site in well drained soil and allow for 12" (30cm) spread and height. Water in until established. Only tidy the foliage by pulling out old leaves as severe cutting back is not recommended
