Towers of waxy, milk-white flowers on sturdy stems with upright grey-green leaves. Stately plants always admired. If you delay planting your bulbs into May, you will tend to get flowers that last longer in the slightly cooler autumn than those that flower in the peak of the summer heat. They also grow away much more readily and vigorously when planted late rather than sulking in the still cold soil . Unhappy with bulbs produced on a field scale in Holland (which tend to have a large virus load) we found a source in Ireland some years ago and are now self sufficient in them. These are big bulbs that will produce multiple stems

RHS Award of Garden Merit.

This plant/cultivar has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit because it has proved to be reliable in appropriate conditions and a good performing plant.

Planting Instructions

Towers of waxy, milk-white bells of flowers on sturdy stems with upright grey-green leaves. Best in sun or light shade, planted 4" (10cm) deep and 6" (15cm) apart in good soil, not too heavy or wet. Beware slugs. It may be better to store the bulbs dry till mid April at least as they don't grow away quickly in cold wet soils. If planted later (into May) you may get longer lasting flowers as they avoid the peak of the summer heat. Store them dry and cool but frost free somewhere with plenty of air flow.
