Agapanthus ‘Fireworks’ is a real showstopper—an African Lily with spectacular, two-tone flower heads that look like they’ve been dipped in paint. The buds open to deep violet-blue at the base, fading to bright white at the tips, creating a striking “sparkler” effect on tall, sturdy stems. Flowering in mid to late summer, it adds strong, architectural height to borders and looks incredible in large patio pots. It’s also a favourite with pollinators, bringing plenty of summer buzz to the garden.
For best performance, give ‘Fireworks’ a warm, sunny position with excellent drainage—Agapanthus loves sunshine and sulks in soggy winter soil.
When to Plant:
Plant bare roots in spring once the risk of hard frost has passed. In milder areas, you can also plant in early autumn so roots can settle before winter.
Where to Plant:
Choose a warm, sunny, sheltered position with well-drained soil. Agapanthus is ideal for sunny borders, gravel gardens and especially large patio pots, where it often flowers brilliantly. Avoid cold, waterlogged ground in winter.
How to Plant:
Watering:
Water well after planting. Keep evenly moist while establishing, then water only during prolonged dry spells. In pots, water regularly in summer, allowing excess to drain away.
