Centranthus

Centranthus (often known as Valerian) is a brilliantly reliable perennial that brings soft, airy colour to the garden for months on end. It produces clouds of tiny, nectar-rich flowers held above tidy foliage, creating a relaxed cottage-garden look that also works beautifully in gravel gardens and naturalistic planting schemes. Tough and drought tolerant once established, Centranthus thrives in well-drained soil, copes with poor ground, and is especially good for sunny borders, banks and even growing in cracks of walls where other plants struggle. Pollinators absolutely adore it, and with a simple deadhead it will keep flowering and flowering.
