Exclusive to Avon Bulbs, Camassia leichtlinii 'Avon's Stellar Hybrids' is a remarkable seed-raised strain developed through years of careful selection and hybridisation here at the nursery.
Unlike named cultivars that flower in predictable colours, these plants offer a fascinating and ever-changing palette. Flower spikes can appear in subtle shades of soft blue, lavender, mauve, lilac, smoky grey, pale pink, greenish tones and violet, often displaying delicate colour blends reminiscent of an Impressionist painting. No two plants are quite the same, making each bulb a unique addition to the garden.
As these plants have been raised from seed rather than cloned, we cannot guarantee exactly what colour you will receive — it is very much a matter of luck. However, many of the seedlings are individually striking and possess a charm and character rarely found in commercially produced bulbs. Better still, they produce seed freely, offering adventurous gardeners the opportunity to raise and select their own future generations.
The bulbs themselves also vary naturally in size. Grown in our heavy Lincolnshire soils and lifted by hand, they are very different from the uniform, machine-harvested and graded Dutch bulbs that many gardeners are accustomed to. We believe this individuality is part of their appeal.
Tall, elegant and highly attractive to pollinators, these hybrids bring a naturalistic beauty to borders, meadow plantings and wildlife-friendly gardens. Over time they form impressive clumps and continue to surprise with their subtle variations and garden performance.
A truly unique Camassia available nowhere else.
When to Plant:
Plant Camassia bulbs in autumn, ideally between September and November, while the soil remains warm and workable.

Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Camassias thrive in borders, meadow-style plantings and areas that remain reasonably moist during spring.
How to Plant:
Watering:
Water after planting and during prolonged dry spells in spring. Camassias appreciate moisture while actively growing and flowering.
