A truly distinctive and elegant snow crocus, Crocus chrysanthus 'Prins Claus' produces striking white flowers beautifully feathered and brushed with rich violet-purple on the outer petals.
Named after the beloved Dutch Prince Claus, this award-winning variety is one of the most recognisable and popular crocuses for late winter and early spring colour. The flowers emerge while the garden is still waking from winter, creating a dramatic display as the white interiors contrast beautifully with the bold purple markings on the outside of each bloom.
Belonging to the early-flowering Snow Crocus group, 'Prins Claus' flowers before many of the larger Dutch Crocuses and is ideal for naturalising in lawns, borders, rock gardens and containers. On sunny days, the flowers open fully to reveal pristine white interiors and golden-orange stamens that attract early bees and other pollinating insects.
The corms multiply steadily over time, forming impressive drifts that return reliably year after year. Whether planted in large sweeps through grass or tucked into rockeries and borders, this charming variety never fails to attract attention.
A beautiful and unusual crocus that brings elegance and character to the earliest days of spring.
