Cool, elegant and beautifully distinctive, Iris reticulata 'Frozen Planet' produces pristine icy-white flowers delicately washed with pale lavender-blue and accented by vivid golden-yellow markings, creating one of the freshest and most sophisticated displays of the late winter garden.
A superb modern selection, 'Frozen Planet' combines the classic charm of the dwarf iris with an unusually soft colour palette. The broad white standards are lightly suffused with frosty blue, while the falls are beautifully decorated with fine blue veining surrounding a brilliant golden-yellow crest. The effect is reminiscent of sunlight glistening across freshly fallen snow, inspiring the variety's evocative name.
Flowering while much of the garden is still dormant, the lightly fragrant blooms rise above slender, grass-like foliage, bringing welcome colour and optimism to the earliest weeks of the gardening season. Perfect for rockeries, alpine gardens, containers, window boxes and the front of borders, 'Frozen Planet' naturalises readily in well-drained soil and returns reliably each spring.
Planted alongside snowdrops, Crocus, winter aconites and other Iris reticulata varieties, it creates a sparkling display that signals the arrival of spring.
A beautiful dwarf iris whose cool, crystalline colours make it a standout addition to any early spring garden.
