Graceful and elegant, with creamy white petals that gently flare to reveal a soft primrose-yellow trumpet. Blooming mid-spring, it’s perfect for borders, naturalised drifts, or container displays. Introduced in the late 20th century, ‘Surfside’ has become a firm favourite for its serene beauty and reliable flowering. Ideal for woodland edges or cottage gardens, where its luminous flowers can shine. Allow foliage to die back naturally to feed the bulb for next year’s display.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Narcissus Surfside bulbs in autumn, ideally between September and November, before the ground becomes too hard from frost.

Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny or partially shaded spot with well-drained soil. Ideal for borders, grassy banks, or naturalising in drifts beneath trees.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant the bulbs 2 to 3 times their own height deep (approx. 10–15 cm).
  • Spacing: Allow around 10–15 cm between bulbs.
  • Position: Plant with the pointed end facing upwards.

Aftercare:
Water well after planting. Once flowering finishes in spring, allow the leaves to die back naturally to feed the bulb for the following year. Avoid cutting foliage until it has turned yellow.

TIP: For a natural look and longer display, plant in groups of odd numbers (e.g., 5 or 7) and scatter in drifts rather than straight lines. Add a handful of grit or horticultural sand beneath each bulb in heavier soils to improve drainage.
