Elegant hoop-petticoat flowers in rich golden yellow. Native to Iberia, this petite species has a long history in cottage gardens and thrives in well-drained soil, basking in full sun or light shade. Ideal for rockeries, alpine beds, or the front of borders. ‘Golden Bells’ naturalises well and adds a joyful splash of colour when little else is in bloom, a bright herald of spring’s arrival. Deer-resistant and delightfully low maintenance.
When to Plant:
Autumn, September to November, before the first frost.
Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny or lightly shaded spot with free-draining soil. Ideal for rock gardens, grassy banks, containers, or under deciduous trees where they’ll receive spring sunlight.
How to Plant:
Aftercare:
Water in well after planting. Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering to feed the bulb for next year. Feed with a low-nitrogen bulb fertiliser in early spring if needed.
TIP: These dainty daffodils dislike heavy, wet soil — if planting in clay, improve drainage with grit or consider potting them up in containers of gritty compost for best results.
