Jonquil hybrid with creamy petals and a vibrant, citrus-scented yellow cup that fades to ivory with age, an enchanting feature for borders or containers. Naturalising well in full sun or dappled shade and thrives in well-drained soil. Ideal for gardens, meadows, or woodland edges. Bred in the USA in the late 20th century, ‘Hillstar’ is treasured for its graceful poise, delightful fragrance, and reliable spring performance, offering both charm and cheer to every planting scheme.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

September to November

Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny or partially shaded spot with free-draining soil. Ideal for borders, naturalising in grass, or containers.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: 10–15cm (4–6 inches) deep
  • Spacing: 10cm (4 inches) apart
  • Postion: Place bulbs pointed end up

Aftercare:
Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering to feed the bulb for next year’s growth. Avoid cutting back green leaves.

TIP: For the best visual impact, plant in groups of at least 5–10 bulbs. Narcissus ‘Hillstar’ is excellent for combining with other spring-flowering bulbs and provides a delightful fragrance—especially near paths or doorways.
