Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant bulbs in autumn, from September to November, before the first hard frost.

Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny and sheltered position with well-drained soil. This variety looks especially stunning planted in groups in beds or large patio containers.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant bulbs 15 cm (6 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space bulbs 10–12 cm (4–5 inches) apart.
  • Postion: Place bulbs with the pointed end facing upward.

Watering:
Water after planting to help settle the soil. Natural rainfall in winter is usually sufficient—avoid overly wet or waterlogged ground.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Deadhead faded flowers to direct energy back into the bulb.
  • Allow the foliage to die back naturally before removing—it’s essential for recharging the bulb.
  • Feed with a balanced, low-nitrogen fertiliser in spring when leaves appear, especially if growing in containers.

Top Tip:
Plant in generous clusters for a rich, painterly effect in the spring garden. Gudoshnik Double also makes a long-lasting and elegant cut flower, perfect for spring bouquets.
