Its perfectly formed, goblet-shaped flowers bring freshness and light to borders, containers and formal planting schemes, making it one of the finest white tulips for the garden.

As a member of the highly regarded Triumph Tulip group, 'White Flag' combines graceful beauty with outstanding garden performance. Its strong, weather-resistant stems ensure the flowers remain upright through changeable spring conditions, while the long-lasting blooms retain their immaculate appearance throughout the flowering period.

Flowering in mid-spring, 'White Flag' reaches around 45–50cm in height and blends effortlessly with every colour palette. It creates dramatic contrast when planted alongside deep purple tulips such as 'Queen of Night', complements soft pinks and apricots beautifully, and pairs perfectly with blue Muscari, Hyacinths and ornamental Alliums.

Its elegant flowers are also highly prized for cutting, lasting exceptionally well in the vase and bringing timeless beauty indoors.

Reliable, refined and wonderfully versatile, Tulipa 'White Flag' is an essential addition to any spring garden.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Tulip bulbs in autumn, ideally from October to December, once the soil has cooled. Planting later in autumn helps reduce the risk of tulip diseases and encourages healthy spring flowering.

Where to Plant:
Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil. 'White Flag' is ideal for borders, patio containers, cutting gardens and formal bedding displays.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant bulbs approximately 15 cm (6 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space bulbs 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Improve heavy soils with compost and, if necessary, add horticultural grit to improve drainage.

Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil. Once established, tulips generally only require watering during prolonged dry spells in spring.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Remove faded flowers once blooming has finished.
  • Allow the foliage to die back naturally for at least six weeks after flowering so the bulbs can store energy for the following year.
  • Feed with a balanced fertiliser in early spring to encourage healthy growth and abundant blooms.

Top Tip:
Use 'White Flag' to brighten borders or create elegant contrast with dark tulips such as 'Queen of Night' or 'Paul Scherer'. Its immaculate white blooms are also exceptional for wedding bouquets and spring flower arrangements.
