Rich, luxurious and wonderfully eye-catching, Anemone coronaria 'Levante Wine' produces large, semi-double blooms in deep wine-red shades that bring dramatic colour to the spring garden.

Part of the modern Levante Series, this exceptional variety has been bred for larger flowers, stronger stems and outstanding garden performance. The velvety petals surround a dark central eye, creating a striking contrast that enhances the flower's rich colouring and gives each bloom remarkable presence.

Flowering over many weeks in spring and early summer, 'Levante Wine' is perfect for borders, containers and cutting gardens. The elegant blooms are held above finely divided fern-like foliage and make superb cut flowers, lasting exceptionally well in the vase.

Its intense colouring pairs beautifully with white varieties such as 'Bride' or 'Mount Everest', while also complementing softer pinks and purples in mixed spring displays. The nectar-rich flowers are attractive to bees and other pollinating insects, adding both beauty and wildlife value to the garden.

A sophisticated and modern Anemone that combines classic charm with outstanding performance.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Anemone coronaria corms in autumn or spring. For best results, soak the corms in lukewarm water for 3–4 hours before planting to encourage faster establishment and stronger growth.

Where to Plant:
Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil. Ideal for borders, containers, cutting gardens and naturalised planting schemes.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant corms approximately 5 cm (2 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space corms about 10 cm (4 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Incorporate compost or organic matter before planting. Improve heavy soils with grit to aid drainage.

Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil lightly moist while growth is developing. Avoid waterlogged conditions.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Deadhead spent flowers to encourage a longer flowering display.
  • Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering.
  • Apply a winter mulch in colder areas for additional protection.

Top Tip:
Plant alongside white-flowered anemones for a stunning contrast, or combine with tulips and ranunculus for spectacular spring containers.
