Glowing with the warm colours of a spring sunrise, Narcissus 'Sun Catchers' is a magnificent double daffodil that produces enormous, richly ruffled blooms in a vibrant blend of golden yellow, apricot and deep orange. With flowers reaching up to 11cm (4½ inches) across, this spectacular variety creates an unforgettable display in borders, containers and spring bouquets.

True to its name, 'Sun Catchers' seems to capture every ray of spring sunshine. The broad outer petals open in fresh greenish-yellow before maturing to a rich, sunny yellow, surrounding a lavishly double centre packed with crimped petals in glowing shades of gold, warm apricot and rich tangerine-orange. The beautifully layered blooms are lightly fragrant and held proudly on sturdy stems, making them as impressive in a vase as they are in the garden.

Flowering from March into April, this elegant variety brings colour, texture and fragrance to borders, cottage gardens and patio containers. Its generous blooms combine beautifully with blue Muscari, Camassias and tulips, while the long-lasting flowers make exceptional cut blooms for spring arrangements.

Easy to grow and wonderfully reliable, 'Sun Catchers' returns year after year, producing an increasingly impressive display when planted in well-drained soil and left undisturbed.

A truly luxurious double daffodil whose radiant golden and apricot blooms light up the spring garden.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Narcissus bulbs in autumn, ideally between September and November, while the soil remains warm enough for strong root development before winter.

Where to Plant:
Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil. 'Sun Catchers' is perfect for borders, cottage gardens, patio containers and cutting gardens.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant bulbs approximately 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space bulbs about 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Improve heavy soils with compost and grit if required to ensure good drainage.

Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil. Once established, daffodils generally require very little watering except during prolonged dry spells.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Deadhead faded flowers to prevent seed production.
  • Allow the foliage to die back naturally for at least six weeks after flowering.
  • Feed with a balanced fertiliser after flowering to encourage healthy bulbs and abundant blooms the following spring.

Top Tip:
Plant where the magnificent double flowers can be admired up close. Their impressive size, rich colouring and light fragrance also make them exceptional cut flowers for spring arrangements.
