A captivating with creamy white petals and a ruffled, lemon-yellow centre that fades to ivory as it matures—like spring sunshine captured in a flower. This vigorous heirloom, introduced in the 1960s, naturalises beautifully in borders, banks, or beneath deciduous trees. Cassata returns year after year with minimal effort, brightening the garden with its delicate, windswept charm and early cheer. A firm favourite for woodland drifts or cottage-style displays.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant in autumn, ideally between September and November, before the first hard frost.

Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny or lightly shaded position in well-drained soil. Ideal for borders, under deciduous trees, or naturalised in grass where they can be left undisturbed for years.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) deep
  • Spacing: 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) apart
  • Postion: Plant with the pointed end facing upwards.

Aftercare:
Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering—this feeds the bulb for next year’s display. Avoid tying or mowing the leaves too early.

TIP: For a striking spring display, plant in bold groups of 10 or more and combine with other early-flowering bulbs like muscari or anemones for added texture and colour contrast.
