Achillea ‘Cerise Queen’ brings a joyous splash of colour to summer borders, with generous, flat-topped clusters of rich cerise-pink blooms that gently soften to rose and blush as the season unfolds. The finely cut, aromatic foliage forms a neat, fresh-green cushion that sets the flowers off beautifully and adds texture even before the first stems rise. Flowering for weeks from early summer into early autumn, it’s a superb pollinator magnet—alive with bees and butterflies—yet wonderfully drought-tolerant and undemanding once established. Perfect for prairie and cottage-garden schemes, gravel gardens, and sunny mixed borders, it weaves effortlessly among grasses, salvias and nepetas, bringing rhythm and repetition. Excellent for cutting and drying, too: the sturdy stems and long-lasting heads hold their colour in a vase and keep their form in winter arrangements. Give it a sunny spot and freely draining soil, deadhead to encourage repeat flushes, or leave a few seedheads standing for sculptural winter interest and wildlife.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant in spring or autumn, while the soil is moist and workable.

Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny position with well-drained soil. Achillea thrives in poorer soils and is drought tolerant once established. Ideal for mixed borders, cottage gardens, wildlife-friendly planting, or gravel gardens.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant so the crown is just level with the soil surface.
  • Spacing: Space 30–40 cm (12–16 inches) apart to allow good air circulation.
  • Soil Prep: Little enrichment is needed—avoid over-fertile soil as it can cause floppy growth.

Watering:
Water well after planting. Once established, Achillea is low-maintenance and drought-resistant, needing only occasional watering during prolonged dry spells.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Deadhead spent blooms regularly to encourage repeat flowering.
  • Cut back faded flower stems in late summer or autumn to keep the plant tidy.
  • Divide clumps every 2–3 years in spring or autumn to maintain vigour and prevent overcrowding.

Top Tip:
Achillea ‘Cerise Queen’ is fantastic for pollinators and makes a great partner for ornamental grasses, Salvias, and Alliums. Its flat-topped flower heads also add contrast to more upright or rounded blooms in the garden.
