Bring a wash of sunshine to the border with this classic yarrow. ‘Moonshine’ carries broad, flat plates of soft lemon-yellow that hover above neat mounds of silvery, aromatic foliage from early summer well into autumn. The colour holds beautifully for weeks, making it a natural rhythm-setter through mixed plantings and a glowing foil for grasses, Nepeta, Salvia and Lavender. Loved by bees and butterflies, it thrives in poor, well-drained soil and full sun, shrugging off heat, wind and drought once established. Compact and upright (to around 60 cm), it’s equally at home in gravel gardens, sunny beds and large containers. Snip for the vase or dry the flower heads for winter arrangements—either way, the stems stay strong and the tones remain true. Deadhead to keep the display rolling, or leave a few seed heads for structure and wildlife interest. A reliable, low-maintenance perennial that brings effortless brightness, season after season.
