Anemone ‘Honorine Joubert’ brings a clean, luminous finish to the garden just as summer slips into autumn. From late August to October, elegant pure-white saucers—each with a ring of golden stamens and a faint blush on the reverse—float on airy, branching stems above handsome, deeply cut foliage. Tall yet graceful (90–120 cm), it brightens partial shade and north-facing borders, and thrives in sun where soil is moist, humus-rich and well-drained. Long-lived and dependable, it forms generous clumps that gently naturalise into beautiful drifts, partnering effortlessly with ornamental grasses, asters, salvias and hydrangeas. A valuable late nectar source for pollinators and a lovely cut flower to bring indoors

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:
Plant in spring or autumn, when the soil is moist and temperatures are mild.

Where to Plant:
Choose a partially shaded position with moist, well-drained soil. It thrives in woodland-style borders, shady beds, and naturalistic planting schemes. Tolerates full sun if soil remains consistently moist.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant so the crown is just below the soil surface.
  • Spacing: Allow 45–60 cm (18–24 inches) between plants for mature spread.
  • Soil Prep: Enrich soil with garden compost or leaf mould before planting.

Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting. Keep soil consistently moist, especially in the first year and during dry spells.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Mulch annually in spring to help retain moisture and enrich the soil.
  • Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering.
  • Cut back old stems in late autumn or early spring after foliage has died down.
  • May take a season or two to settle, but will form long-lived, graceful clumps once established.

Top Tip:
Anemone ‘Honorine Jobert’ makes an elegant backdrop for spring bulbs like Narcissus and Hyacinths, and blends beautifully with shade-loving plants like Ferns, Hostas, and Heuchera. Once established, it’s low maintenance and fantastic for pollinators.
