Graceful, elegant and wonderfully fragrant, Narcissus 'Moonlight Sensation' is an outstanding Triandrus Daffodil (RHS Division 5), admired for its delicate, nodding flowers and beautifully soft colouring. Producing multiple blooms on every stem, it creates a light, natural display that gently dances in the spring breeze.

Each flower opens in a beautiful pale sulphur-yellow, gradually fading to a soft creamy ivory-white as it matures, giving established clumps a wonderfully subtle blend of colours throughout the flowering season. The delicate blooms have gracefully reflexed petals and are carried in clusters, lending the plant an elegant, airy appearance that is characteristic of the finest Triandrus daffodils.

Flowering in mid to late spring, 'Moonlight Sensation' is prized not only for its refined beauty but also for its delightful fragrance. Each bulb produces several flowering stems, each carrying multiple blooms, creating an abundance of flowers despite its compact habit.

Perfect for borders, woodland gardens, containers and naturalising, this vigorous variety gradually forms generous clumps that return reliably every spring. Its graceful flowers combine beautifully with species tulips, Muscari, Anemones and other late spring bulbs.

A truly elegant daffodil whose soft colours, sweet fragrance and delicate flowers bring timeless beauty to the spring garden.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Narcissus bulbs in autumn, ideally between September and November, before the ground freezes and while the soil remains workable.

Where to Plant:
Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil. Triandrus daffodils thrive in borders, woodland gardens, containers and naturalised areas beneath deciduous trees.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant bulbs approximately 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space bulbs about 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Improve poor soils with compost or well-rotted organic matter. In heavy soils, add grit to improve drainage.

Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil. Once established, additional watering is only needed during prolonged dry spells in spring.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Allow the foliage to die back naturally for at least six weeks after flowering.
  • Remove spent flower heads if seed is not required.
  • Leave clumps undisturbed to encourage natural multiplication and stronger flowering each year.

Top Tip:
Plant amongst ferns, bluebells and species tulips where the graceful, nodding flowers and soft colouring create a wonderfully natural woodland display.
