Elegant, dramatic and wonderfully distinctive, Tulipa 'Yasmine' is a superb Fringed Tulip that combines rich velvety crimson-red petals with exquisitely serrated golden-yellow edges, creating one of the most eye-catching displays of the late spring garden.

Each perfectly formed goblet-shaped bloom appears as though it has been delicately trimmed with golden lace. As the flowers mature, the deep ruby-red petals intensify in colour while the finely fringed yellow margins become even more pronounced, giving the blooms exceptional texture and depth. The striking contrast between the rich crimson centre and luminous golden edging makes this one of the most vibrant members of the Fringed Tulip group.

Flowering in late spring, 'Yasmine' is carried on strong, upright stems that perform beautifully in borders, patio containers and cutting gardens. The long-lasting flowers are excellent for floral arrangements, where their unusual fringed petals add elegance and drama.

Perfect planted alongside yellow tulips, deep purple Alliums or blue Camassias, 'Yasmine' creates spectacular colour combinations. It is equally stunning planted in generous drifts, where its richly coloured flowers become a true focal point in the garden.

A bold and luxurious tulip that combines vibrant colour with intricate detail and outstanding garden performance.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Tulipa 'Yasmine' bulbs in autumn, ideally between September and November, once the soil has cooled but before it freezes.

Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. Fringed Tulips are ideal for borders, patio containers, formal bedding and cutting gardens.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant bulbs approximately 15 cm (6 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space bulbs 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Improve heavy soils with grit or sharp sand to improve drainage, and incorporate compost or well-rotted organic matter before planting.

Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil around the bulbs. During spring, rainfall is usually sufficient, although containers may require watering during prolonged dry spells.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Remove faded flowers to prevent seed production.
  • Allow the foliage to die back naturally before removing it so the bulb can store energy for the following year.
  • Avoid excessive watering once the bulbs become dormant in summer.

Top Tip:
Plant with golden Narcissi, yellow tulips or blue Camassias to create striking colour contrasts that highlight the beautiful golden fringes of the flowers.
