Discovered by George Forrest in Yunnan in the early 1900s and named for one of his sponsors, the Bees nursery in north west England. The Liverpool University Botanic Garden at Ness is now located in what was the garden of their head of the firm. This is a very narrow leaved plant with tubular slate blue bells in the late summer. Best as a plant of the rockery or raised bed on account of their size, although they will cope with wetter conditions than that suggests. Plant supplied in small clumps.
