Chionodoxa luciliae ‘Violet Beauty’ is a charming herald of spring, carpeting the ground with starry, violet-lilac blooms tipped in white. These early risers are perfect for naturalising in grass, under trees, or at the front of borders, where their delicate beauty delights year after year. Hardy and low-maintenance, they thrive in sun or light shade, welcoming pollinators and lifting spirits with their soft glow just as winter fades. A true gem for early-season colour.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant in autumn, from September to November, before the ground freezes.

Where to Plant:
Choose a spot in full sun or light shade. Ideal for borders, rockeries, under deciduous trees, or in containers. They thrive in well-drained soil.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: 5–8 cm (2–3 inches)
  • Spacing: 5–8 cm (2–3 inches) apart
  • Position: Pointy end up

Aftercare:
Water in after planting. Once established, they need little attention. Allow foliage to die back naturally to feed the bulb for next year’s flowers.

Tip:
Plant in generous groups or drifts for the best visual impact. Suitable for naturalising in grass.
