Celebrate the arrival of spring with our vibrant Festival of Colours Mixture, a spectacular blend of premium mid-season flowering tulips and beautifully fragrant hyacinths, carefully selected to create a breathtaking display of colour, scent and texture.

This expertly balanced mixture combines an exciting palette of bold reds, sunshine yellows, rich purples, vibrant pinks, crisp whites and warm oranges, perfectly complemented by the sweet fragrance of flowering hyacinths. As the bulbs bloom together, they create a stunning, multi-layered display with flowers ranging from 25–55cm in height, giving borders and containers a full, natural appearance.

Originally developed for large-scale landscape planting in the Netherlands, this professional-quality mixture has been specially adapted into a pack of 50 bulbs, making it perfect for home gardeners wanting to achieve an eye-catching display with minimal effort.

Ideal for borders, beds, containers and mass planting, the Festival of Colours Mixture delivers weeks of spectacular spring colour while attracting bees and other early pollinating insects.

Whether you're creating a vibrant feature border or brightening a patio with colourful containers, this mixture offers an effortless way to enjoy a professional-looking spring display.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant the bulbs in autumn (September–December) while the soil is cool and workable. Autumn planting allows the bulbs to develop strong roots before producing their colourful spring display.

Where to Plant:
Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with well-drained soil. This mixture is ideal for borders, beds, containers and mass planting, where the blend of tulips and fragrant hyacinths can be fully appreciated.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant bulbs approximately 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) deep, depending on bulb size.
  • Spacing: Space bulbs around 8–10 cm (3–4 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Improve heavy soils by incorporating compost and horticultural grit to ensure good drainage.

Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil around the bulbs. Once established, additional watering is rarely needed except during prolonged dry spells.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Remove faded flowers once they finish blooming.
  • Allow all foliage to die back naturally before removing it, as the leaves feed the bulbs for next year's display.
  • An annual mulch of compost will help maintain healthy soil and encourage reliable flowering.

Top Tip:
Plant the bulbs in generous drifts or large containers for a colourful, professionally designed display that combines vibrant tulips with beautifully scented hyacinths.
