Richly romantic and wonderfully elegant, Tulipa 'Pink Delight' is a stunning Double Early Tulip, producing luxurious, peony-like blooms in creamy white beautifully edged with broad strawberry-pink margins that deepen to rich rose-pink as the flowers mature.

Flowering in the heart of spring, the large, fully double blooms gradually open wider to reveal layer upon layer of silky petals, creating an opulent display that resembles miniature peonies. Their ever-changing colour adds extra interest, with each flower becoming richer and more vibrant as the season progresses.

The compact, sturdy stems stand up well to spring weather, making 'Pink Delight' an excellent choice for borders, patio containers and window boxes, where the richly coloured flowers can be enjoyed up close. They also make exceptional cut flowers, lasting well in the vase and bringing the beauty of spring indoors.

As one of the finest Double Early Tulips, 'Pink Delight' combines beautifully with Muscari, Forget-me-nots, white Narcissi and other early-flowering bulbs to create a romantic cottage garden display.

A truly luxurious tulip that offers all the beauty of a peony with the reliability and charm of an early spring bulb.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Tulipa 'Pink Delight' bulbs in autumn, ideally between September and November, once the soil has cooled but before it freezes.

Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. Double Early Tulips are perfect for borders, patio pots, containers, formal bedding and cutting gardens.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant bulbs approximately 15 cm (6 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space bulbs 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Improve heavy soils with grit or sharp sand to improve drainage, and enrich the soil with compost or well-rotted organic matter before planting.

Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil around the bulbs. During spring, rainfall is normally sufficient, although containers may need watering during prolonged dry spells.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Remove faded flowers to prevent seed production.
  • Allow the foliage to die back naturally before removing it, enabling the bulb to store energy for the following year.
  • Avoid excessive watering once the bulbs become dormant in summer.

Top Tip:
Plant in containers near entrances or patios where the exquisite peony-like blooms can be admired up close. Pair with blue Muscari and white Narcissus for a timeless spring display.
