One of the earliest and most admired tulips to flower each spring, Tulipa 'Apricot Beauty' is treasured for its beautifully scented blooms and its exquisite blend of soft apricot, warm salmon-pink and delicate rose tones. As the flowers mature, the colours gently soften and deepen, giving each bloom a unique, luminous quality.

Introduced in the 1950s, this classic Single Early Tulip has remained a firm favourite with gardeners for generations thanks to its reliability, elegant colouring and subtle fragrance—a rare feature among tulips. The graceful, cup-shaped flowers are carried on sturdy stems, making them remarkably weather resistant for such an early-flowering variety.

Flowering from early to mid-spring, 'Apricot Beauty' is perfect for brightening borders, patio containers and window boxes after the winter months. Its warm pastel shades blend beautifully with daffodils, muscari, hyacinths and other spring bulbs, while its long-lasting blooms also make superb cut flowers.

Easy to grow and wonderfully versatile, Tulipa 'Apricot Beauty' is an essential tulip for anyone looking to welcome spring with soft colour, delicate fragrance and timeless elegance.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Tulip bulbs in autumn, ideally from October to December, once the soil has cooled. Planting later in autumn helps reduce the risk of tulip diseases and encourages healthy spring flowering.

Where to Plant:
Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil. 'Apricot Beauty' is ideal for borders, patio containers, window boxes and cutting gardens.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant bulbs approximately 15 cm (6 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space bulbs 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Improve heavy soils with compost and, if necessary, add horticultural grit to improve drainage.

Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil. Once established, tulips generally only require watering during prolonged dry spells in spring.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Remove faded flowers once blooming has finished.
  • Allow the foliage to die back naturally for at least six weeks after flowering so the bulbs can store energy for the following year.
  • Apply a balanced fertiliser in early spring to encourage healthy growth and abundant blooms.

Top Tip:
Plant 'Apricot Beauty' near paths, patios or entrances where its delicate fragrance and beautiful pastel colouring can be enjoyed every day. It also combines wonderfully with blue Muscari and white Narcissus for a classic spring display.
