Planting Instructions

For full sun or partial shade, They prefer more moisture retentive soil, even heavy clay soils. Plant about 12-18"(30-45cm) apart which will be their spread in 2-3 years. Water well on planting and in very dry periods in the first year. They are a hardy perennial. Over winter they need no attention, in the spring you can cut back most of the old foliage that has held on, ahead of the new growth. After the first flush of flowers in the summer you can give them the 'Chelsea Chop' - cut the plants back by two thirds and water them well again, very often you will get more flowers in the early autumn.  Pretty pink pin-cushion like flowers in May/June about 12-18"(30-45cm) tall.
