A romantic, softly layered planting scheme inspired by traditional English cottage gardens. The Cottage Garden Charm Collection brings together tall architectural spires, airy filler plants and generous ground cover to create a border that feels abundant, relaxed and beautifully timeless.

Expect a harmonious blend of blues, pinks and soft whites, with long flowering periods and gentle movement throughout the season. Perfect for sunny borders where you want height at the back, soft drifts through the middle and elegant underplanting at the front.

This is planting with personality — generous, graceful and full of charm.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant 2 litre potted plants in spring, summer or early autumn while soil is workable. Avoid planting during frozen or waterlogged conditions.

Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. Ideal for mixed borders where taller plants can sit towards the back and softer fillers weave through the middle and front.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant at the same depth as in the pot, with the top of the rootball level with the soil surface.
  • Spacing: Space plants 40–60 cm (16–24 inches) apart to allow for mature spread.
  • Soil Prep: Incorporate garden compost or well-rotted manure before planting to improve fertility and moisture retention.

Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting and keep evenly moist during the first growing season. Water during dry spells in summer.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Support taller varieties such as Delphiniums and Lupins if exposed to wind.
  • Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering.
  • Cut back spent stems in autumn or early spring.
  • Apply a mulch each spring to retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Top Tip:
For the most natural cottage effect, plant in loose drifts rather than straight lines and allow plants to gently intermingle.
