Rosa ‘Kordana’ Red is a gorgeous, compact patio rose that brings the romance with velvety red blooms on a neat, tidy plant—perfect for pots, patios, balconies, or a sunny spot by the front door. It’s a brilliant way to give a rose that lasts far longer than a bouquet, with repeat flowering through the season when you deadhead regularly.

For Valentine’s Day, it’s a thoughtful, living gift that can be enjoyed for months—and it’s perfect for gifting to any loved one, whether that’s a partner, friend, family member, or as a well-deserved treat for yourself.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant in spring or autumn, while the soil is workable. Container-grown roses like this can be planted at most times of year, but avoid periods of frost or waterlogged ground.

Where to Plant:
Choose a spot in full sun (at least 6 hours a day) with fertile, well-drained soil. Perfect for pots and containers, patios, balconies, and the front of borders. Good air circulation helps keep plants healthy.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant so the top of the compost is level with the soil surface.
  • Spacing: If planting in the ground, space around 30–45 cm apart. In pots, one plant per pot works best.
  • Soil Prep: Improve the planting hole with garden compost or well-rotted organic matter. For pots, use a good-quality peat-free compost and ensure plenty of drainage holes.

Watering:
Water well after planting. Keep the compost/soil evenly moist during the first few weeks. Roses in pots will need more regular watering in warm weather.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Deadhead regularly to encourage repeat flowering.
  • Feed with a rose fertiliser in spring and again in summer for the best bloom display.
  • In late winter or early spring, lightly prune to shape the plant and encourage fresh, flowering growth.
  • In containers, protect roots in very cold weather by moving pots to a sheltered spot or wrapping the pot.

Top Tip:
For a Valentine’s gift that keeps on giving, pop it into a decorative pot and add a tag—it makes a lovely, lasting reminder that will flower again and again.
